Pause and Breathe

Before doing anything else, take three slow, deep breaths:

Breathe in slowly for 4 seconds

Hold for 4 seconds

Breathe out slowly for 6 seconds

Repeat this three times.

Read This Truth

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

1 Corinthians 10:13

God has already prepared a way out for you. This moment of temptation has an escape route. You're looking at it right now.

Pray This Out Loud

“Lord Jesus, I need You right now. This temptation feels strong, but You are stronger. I cannot do this on my own, and I don't have to. Fill me with Your Spirit. Help me choose freedom. Thank You that You do not condemn me. Thank You that this moment will pass. I choose You over this temptation. In Your name, Amen.”

Change Your Environment

Right now, do one of these things:

  • Move to a different room – physical movement breaks the cycle
  • Go outside – even for just 5 minutes
  • Call or text someone – break the isolation
  • Do 20 jumping jacks – redirect physical energy
  • Turn on lights – darkness feeds temptation

Say each one out loud as you identify it.
